Oh... we could 'survive' without the amendment.... (If 'survival' is all that we ask.) After all, we are a big resource-rich continental sized country. But without a Balanced Budget Amendment to puts some serious structural clamps on our perennially short-term focused and over spending politicians... then 'Banana Republic' might be in our future....
