How is it in the best interests of the game?

Humans make mistakes. Baseball, like life, is not a perfect game; it is based on human judgement, skill and talent. There is no need to open the door here for further reviews. Within the general scheme of things, this error is petty since no one got killed or rotted in prison for 20 years before they got exonerated.

The winner here is the Tiger pitcher who threw the perfect game and showed himself as a true sportsman.

who cares, everybody knows he threw a perfect game*, most especially the ump who robbed him of it. his pitching performance will be duly noted in the history books that are so important to baseball nerds. and his classy comportment, which stands in stark contrast to the spoiled man-children who constitute a large segment of the population of professional athletes, has been duly noted by baseball moms.

he turned lemons into lemonade, yo.

* in fact a perfect game plus one, since he got 28 outs.
