I am well aware of tanker construction. Should they all be pulled off the roads?

.Much like assorted chocolates, the real flavor of Friday's employment report will depend on what lies inside.

The data should, at first glance, look sweet. The Labor Department is expected to say the U.S. added more than half a million jobs in May for the largest monthly gain since 1983. Yet the lion's share of that headline increase—an estimated 417,000 jobs—should reflect government hiring of temporary census workers.

Private-sector hiring will be the real figure to watch. Private-sector payrolls have risen during five of the last six months, with April's gain of 231,000 the largest since 2006. Yet the May figure is expected to be something of a step back, to a pace of between 100,000 to 200,000.
