Thanks for the post, Ted. I don't think the wife's premonition was just a coincidence. If it was a premonition, it wasn't his wife's....it was his. I've read before that people sometimes know when they are going to die. So it might have been an example of that.......or things were going so poorly on the rig, there was fear something bad was going to happen. I am not sure because she did not make it clear. I tend to think if he thought the rig was ready to fall apart, he would not have gone back after his leave was over...but who knows.
