Matthews isn't smart; he just knows politics and talks fast. Sometimes, he asks good questions. Once in a while, he shuts up long enuf for somebody like Bachmann to hang themselves.. There are no great thinkers in the news business. There aren't a lot of great thinkers in the op-ed biz. Believe it or not, Friedman is prolly one, altho he's not always right.

In fact Mathews and Olberman almost stood alone in those days. Bravely, I htought.

And MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnel is a brillant saint IMO.


The one that impresses me most is Maddow. She seems to do her homework and she alone shows some empathy. She's as upset as everyone else about this spill but she says it with less of the histrionics. I also like Brian Williams for his balance and thoughtfulness/sensitivity.
