You're singing to the choir. I am as frustrated as you are. What about the 29 men killed in Va because of a company-Massey Energy- which shaved safety , as BP also evidently does? Us liberals have been asking for more regulation of energy companies for years but we are generally ignored or shoved into the future ; as are our pleas for better efficiency in motors, appliances, cars etc , changes in fiscal incentives encouraging more energy efficiency, rapid increases in investments in new energy technologies - govt and/or private and the like. Reagan ignored this, Bush 1 and Clinton were tepid and Bush 2 gave us several head fakes. Obama seems to be doing things like raising auto energy efficiency standards for the first time in years and years. So we are struggling with trying to find fossil fuels in more difficult places and still being lied to by the old guard which say we have to do this first even as they have virtually ignored the more obvious activities and policies we could use to get closer to energy independence.
