The last muni strike we had a few consolations were made for new hires... but to see what also happens our provincial sales tax is being blended with our national VAT the GST in Ontario come July (also in BC).. This will raise taxes effectively by 8 % on many items... like a new home !! The best part though is the provincial sales tax employees will get layoff payments up to 45K because they are becoming fed employees now.. So leave work Friday... come back Monday to same job and expect a big bonus.. I'll take a cut like that... en.wikipedia.org so next time you hear about the great Canadian balanced budget... sure it's better than the US one.. but... canadafreepress.com
