This is what I don't understand about Obama. He has the right ideas and he even says them in his speeches, but then he acts somewhat irresolute in getting Congress to move. If he wants to be seen as doing something about the BP oil spill, the biggest brightest thing he could be doing is standing on every beach in the area giving the speech repeatedly that he won't leave the Gulf until Congress makes energy legislation their top priority to get us to oil independence. I know pretty much all my Republican and Democratic friends would support that.

However, I'm pretty sure the GOP Congressmen will not, so they will have to be dealt with. But can you imagine a GOP candidate in November telling the American public he's voting against an oil independence bill in Congress? I'd love to see that.

It's the single best way for Obama to turn this challenge into a nightmare for the GOP. And make no mistake about it. The GOP will remain united in their defense of Big Oil. They rake in too much money from Big Oil to do anything different.
