rw,

Looking at some of the recent images, we are moving beyond the point were tragic is descriptive enough.

With respect to the central bankers attempts to manipulate markets, I often say that no one can stop the ocean. The basic idea that this much oil, dispersed over many levels in the gulf, can be "cleaned" is a pipe-dream. Did you see the Nat Geo special this past week on the spill? The Coast Guard is working like mad (and learning for the first time how to use the equipment they have for spills) and they are not even making a dent on a dent on a wisp of a dent.

I'm hoping beyond hope that this latest fix is effective, but even if they stopped it 100% now, the damage already done is going to take a very, very long time to repair/reverse. I'm no expert on such things by any stretch, but we all know this is going to be much worse than we are being told. The latest pictures say it all.
