Mostly people who buy their books have relatives in the local and it is always done with the approval of the business agent. In my case it goes back a couple of generations and I was offered the chance. My Dad was an ironworker. And you spend a fair amount of time sitting home. Nobody looks out for you. That happens anyway. The thing I hated the most .... between jobs, getting up early, packing a lunch, sitting near the phone hoping to get a call from the business agent about a job somewhere that day. Then by mid morning, you'd know you'd have nothing to do that day ... all ready to work but no work.
