We have to understand the concept put forth by science of "knowldge directed perception" i.e. the more you know the more you see. The better you can solve problems.

One should go to college primarily to learn how to think, IMO.

Occupation should be a secondary goal, as one does not have much, with out the other.

Figuring out why scientists are mostly democratic (80% lean that way) and are mostly liberal is very very simple. They are trained to think.

E.g. take Huckabee. I watch him for a minute or two now and then and what just strikes me is how simplistic he sees the world.

The one exception to this rule seems to be, ironicaly, engineers', in a coincidental discussion about this very topic, at dinner last week, I asked the retired PHD fisheries professor that question.

Here was his response, which I had never considered, but have been thinkng about a lot. He said he thought it was because they concentrate so much on one thing.

They do not spend enough time letting their minds soar. They do not try to grasp infinity or poetry, they mostly concentrate on how to build a bridge or a roof.
