Hi Scott, Hi Leo,
News Flash: NCs find their niche
ncworldmag.com

From the article:
Best fit for NCs:

Areas of limited domain work and specialized applications (such as, accounts payable)
Replacements for older PCs used to access mainframes and databases
For employees who don't take work home

Worst fit for NCs:

Environments with high percentage of power users and laptop users
Areas of very diversified work tasks, where employees perform a variety of tasks over
the course of a day

Also:
Most MIS managers estimate the TCO of the PC desktop to be $2,500 to $5,000 (the
Gartner Group's estimate is $15,000). The reason is that most businesses do not factor in all
the costs that the analysts did. As a result, most MIS managers believe the TCO numbers are
grossly exaggerated, and therefore, dismiss them as evidence of the NC's cost benefits.

Eight miles high, and when you touch down, you'll find that...
the balloon was too heavy for the hot air generator.

Scott:

S3 again. There's a suit now. Are there just a few parallels here?

<The complaint also alleges that, during the class
period, some defendants sold substantial amounts
of S3 common stock in order to take advantage of
the artificially inflated price.>
