MUMBAI (Dow Jones)--India's Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (532978.BY) Wednesday denied that it was in talks to sell a stake in itself to Warren Buffett-led Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (BRKB), it said in a notice to the National Stock Exchange.
Earlier in the day, the shares of the Indian financial services company hit a day's high of INR493.45 because of the market rumors of talks between the two companies for a stake sale.
At 0743 GMT, Bajaj Finserv shares were up 5.2% at INR472.
As of March 31, the founders of Bajaj Finserv held 54.97% in the company, according to data with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Among the Indian company's other investors was the Government of Singapore with its 2.40% stake and Life Insurance Corp. with a 5.23%, the BSE data showed
