"I'll et supply can meet demand if we use the worlds total resources"
Nope. China and India would like the total world resources, too. In fact, they would like to be us, and ChinAmerIndia would consume 2 and a quarter planets. Doesn't leave much for Europe, Russia, or Brazil. Fuck the rest of them.

Show me the production capacity. Don't give me rebates. Show me the capacity to do what you want. Show me the plants making 20M batteries right now. Show me the plant turning out l00,000 chargers/ month. Don't show me paper rebates. I know paper rebates, I know C2G cars, I know using old batteries as back-ups in highrises, I know all sorts of stuff. Show me we can produce enuf Li or Cd to make 200M batteries, total..Not a year...total number of batteries.
Show me the rare earths. Show me the rare earths not on China.

"I spent most of my life solving problems,"

Solve the energy problem. Right here, right now.
Be precise, specific, with numbers and graphs and references.
I don't want cornucopiababble. Prove yer case.

Here you go...beat The Wall. Just so you know, this was from Nov. 2 weeks later, Manifa got pushed back 3 years. Deepwater moratorium will be another 500,000 BPD down until 2017. Macondo postponed forever? Adjust the supply line acordingly.

The Drummers can't do it, and they have actually made plans for electric rail with price studies, the energy return on alcohol and how many acres, etc, etc. The only solution you can bring is the hot air from yer mouth.

Here's where the 2 AM dorm room existentialist "give them rebates" collides with reality. We're doing relatively little to go solar, and yet, like Bob Dole without Viagra, we can't even keep that up.

First Solar says can't meet demand for modules
GENEVA
Sat Jun 5, 2010 10:00am

GENEVA (Reuters) - The market for solar modules, a key element in solar power systems, is so strong that industry leader First Solar will not be able to meet demand this year,
reuters.com

So, first you have to build me some factories to make the machines to make the panels, then you need to build me the factories to make the panels, then you need to make me the factories to make the silicon, etc.

Rock on; ya gotta lot of oil to replace, and no time left to say "rebate, rebate.'

some comments out on the progressive blog DailyKos:

dailykos.com

count me among those disappointed and discouraged. My take is that this is not his [Obama's] staff. This is the man speaking. He is very cautious and very centrist. He will not "bite the hand that feeds him", as the old expression goes, whether that is Goldman on Wall Street -- or BP, major supplier of fuel to two current US Wars, in the Gulf. Nor challenge the "health" industry in real reform. Etc, Etc. This is not staff work. These are the solutions that he thinks are best. If we had enough time, we could rebuild from the ground up -- appoint new judges, elect new mayors and congress people, push for new senators, and bring back a kind of restoration -- of democracy, not monarchy. But you have to be discouraged about this. Deeply.

Obama comes to Louisiana meets with some locals, has his picture taken, and goes back to Washington D.C., fusses at BP a little, and nothing here changes. The so-called "response" is as inadequate as ever, people here are furious, and rightfully so, and our marsh is being assaulted with little defense. The poisonous dispersant is being sprayed in massive quantities as never before, there is a wildlife armageddon going on, and most of you folks are clueless that Obama looks pretty damn weak right about now; even worse than weak, like his administration and agencies have cozied up too close to BP.

No wonder the polls are reflecting the ground reality here in Louisiana.

Another Gas Well Problem - 7 Burned in WV

6/7/2010 4:21 PM EDT

They seem to come in waves.

AP is reporting a drilling crew were drilling in through an abandoned coal mine, hit a pocket of methane gas that ignited, triggering an explosion, and burned seven workers.

The explosion happened about 1:30 a.m. in a rural area southwest of Pittsburgh. "A column of fire shot at least 70 feet high, but the flames fell to 40 feet within hours. Gas continued to burn late Monday afternoon."

The workers are in fair condition and are expected to recover.

The companies involved are Chief Oil & Gas LLC of Dallas, Texas and AB Resources PA LLC of Brecksville, Ohio
