Why is it you conservatives whine for smaller, less "intrusive" government constantly until you need it to clean up one of the messes caused by conservative policy?

I think that liberals don't understand is that we aren't asking government to clean up messes. It is the liberal politicians who have claimed the power and therefore the responsibility to clean up those messes. The conservatives are saying "ok, so you say that big government is the only solution to these problems, get your collective asses in there and live up to your word"

Huh? When did Jindal become a liberal? Mary Matalin?

but, the problem is that government is never big enough or smart enough to solve all of the problems so the liberals always come back to the well for more money and more power.

The problem is conservatives continue to believe that this is a country of 13 colonies instead of a nation of 310 million people with 50 states and over 2 million sq miles of land in the 21st century. Your whole philosophy comes from the agragarian ideals espoused by Jefferson at the turn of the 19th century........country bad, city good. Gov't bad, people good. Its nonsense. If you wanted that kind of country, you all should have stuck with the 13 colonies and called it a day.
