SEATTLE, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. and Infoseek
Corp. said Thursday they have reached agreement on
several Internet-releated promotional and revenue-sharing
arrangements.
Under the deal content from Microsoft's Investor, Money
Insider, Expedia and CarPoint online sites will be integrated
with Infoseek's Internet service, along with news from its
MSNBC joint venture.
The companies will share advertising and
transaction-related revenues, although financial details were
not disclosed immediately.
The deal is the latest in an effort by Microsoft to achieve
wider viewership for its core Microsoft Network properties.
Last month Microsoft formed a similar arrangement to distribute
MSNBC news and the Carpoint automotive site through Yahoo Inc's
Internet site.
The Microsoft properties will "anchor" channels established
by Infoseek in the company's redesigned Web site launched last
month, said Jeff Sanderson, general manager of Microsoft's
Interactive Media Group, who said more such deals would be
forthcoming.
"These properties are all great and deserve the widest
number of eyeballs viewing them," he said. "That drives
advertising revenues, transaction revenues in some cases and
builds the brand."
Microsoft and Infoseek have signed letters of intent and
plan to sign final legal agreements within the next several
weeks, Sanderson said.
