That is exactly what they should be doing. Just a few days ago CNN reported that flying over the gusher and looking at 500 to a 1,000 sq miles of oiled water, there were exactly 12 skimmers. MISSISSIPPI -- Dozens more private boats were deployed Friday to search for and skim oil, and many more were on standby as their crews awaited hazardous-materials training.
