Sal, you're obsessed with Bill Gates too. As am I. It behooves everybody who's in the computer business one way or the other to be obsessed with Bill Gates and Microsoft, one way or the other.

As to foul language, that was in reference to the stupid comment by Tod Nielsen, Vice President of Developer Relations, Microsoft. As I said, I think washing children's mouths out with soap is barbaric, apparently Mr. Nielsen disagrees. I can't help it if he says stupid things, although I've come to expect stupid things to be said by Microsofties whenever Java is involved. They just can't come up with a company line that makes any sense, so they have to keep spouting nonsense.

I don't think what MSFT wants to do with Java is juvenile. They've made the business decision that Java is a threat to their franchise, so they're fighting it.

That's fine, but that's not what the PR guys are saying. Java is a great language, Sun should give up the Java name, Sun is so hypocritical, we've just got to make Java save for Windows, blah blah blah. I know, it's unethical to be ethical in business, so if you can't tell the truth because it would interfer with your business plan to stretch your monopolistic death grip as far and wide as possible, you just lie all over the place. Once more, who is supposed to believe the Microsoft line on Java? It's such a great language, it just has to be made safe for Windows? All part of the integrity and uniformity of the Windows Experience, I guess, but I think the experience would be better if they figured out how to keep the stupid OS from crashing first.

Cheers, Dan.

Dan, McNealy is obsessed with Bill Gates. Everything he says centers around bashing Microsoft. You
know it, I know it, everyone knows it.

And I love'em for doing it. Unlike these other scared CEO wimps.

I bet you don't know anything about software either and is clearly
a Definition #2.

Sal,

"Dan, McNealy is obsessed with Bill Gates. Everything he says centers around bashing Microsoft. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it."

"McNealy...I think he's extremely unprofessional when he speaks."

Whatever happened to 'business is war', Sal? Unlike the sheltered comforts of the artificial academic clime in which you thrive, the REAL world is somewhat less 'professional' in nature. More goes on behind the scenes than you will read about in the polished-image-conscious articles of the Online PC Ragazines oft quoted on this thread. Apparently you forgot about Bill's "frazzled" billionaire look when doing your dissertation on proper professionalism. Of course, we could always ask STAC about Microsoft's version of professionalism...

Take it easy,

Norm

Sal, buddy..you don't want to miss the big event next thursday and friday in the nations capital, that event being the Ralph conference on Appraising Microsoft and its Global Strategy. It will be 2 days of fun filled activities dedicated to shedding light on the tactics of the un-american monopolists from Redmond.Highlights include Java Man, Scott McNealy and defender of Justice, Gary Reback. Two days of Microsoft Mania at the Omni Shoreham, the same hotel where Ron Reagen was shot back in the eighties.Sounds like fun to me.I got visions of Cops and Reporters everywhere.Paid MSFT thugs..protesters..the whole enchilada .Since I live nearby, I will have to attend. It's not that far from Wake,Sal..so maybe I'll see you there.Have a great weekend everybody. Ralph Nader....Geez, aint America Great!
