Yes - I understand your point - but it's like real estate - location location location (mexico is next door) - I would love to have an Australian like system where as a country we define a skill we want and encourage people with that skill - but that would not fly in this country either and most especially while we have a porous border.

I would prefer we stay on task of closing the border, coming up with a solution for the people here and then we can argue about how to modify the system to be fair and get the people America needs most - besides over time the formula/mix may change.

PS: With the tech downturn my support for H1B visas has waned a bit. :-)
