I don't have precise figures handy, but if your counting by government spending as a percentage of GDP federal, state, and local spending combine to be over 40%. Throw in off budget items and the cost imposed by government regulations and likely somewhere around 50%, perhaps even more. (And that counts only the financial costs of government regulation, not costs imposed that don't have a fairly direct dollar expense)

So maybe half government / half private.
