I am also quite clear that this is my fault. I have contributed to the demand for oil.... I have wanted cheap gas, affordable heat, I have used petroleum based products all my life. I have not insisted enough that regulations be adhered to by my governmental agencies. I have not said Enough! when there have been deaths at explosions at refineries or on oil rigs or from other spills. I, like many other people on this planet have "settled" for petroleum based resources and have not demanded alternatives... have not volunteered to pay more in taxes to develop alternatives. So few people are willing to be honest about their involvement in this garbage and the ones who are probably have the smallest carbon footprints. This weekend I was at the gym and this woman was insisting we all watch Real Housewives of NJ with her. I had heard of these real housewive shows but never seen one. I was astounded......the level of consumption of gas, food, products, etc was mind blowing. If the real housewives are typical of America, then this latest recession will be a blip in our rearview mirrors very shortly.
