Clyburn Says Greene Was a "Plant"

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) called for an investigation into the circumstances that led to Alvin Greene (D) to win the Democratic U.S. Senate primary in South Carolina, The Hill reports.

Said Clyburn: "There were some real shenanigans going on in the South Carolina primary. I don't know if he was a Republican plant; he was someone's plant."

John Cook: "The evidence is mounting that Alvin Greene, the mysterious unemployed veteran and accused sex offender who shocked South Carolina Tuesday night by winning the Democratic Senate primary, was put up to the candidacy in some sort of political skullduggery."

Meanwhile, The Root has an interview with Greene.

Quote of the Day

"No white folks have an 'e' on the end of Green. The blacks after they left the plantation couldn't spell, and they threw an 'e' on the end."

-- South Carolina State Sen. Robert Ford (D), quoted by the Charleston Post and Courier, saying that race have played a role in Alvin Greene's (D) surprise victory since he was the only black candidate in a primary with a majority of black voters.

A Gawker reader blames that pesky Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'll blame environmentalists. Environmentalists who can't spell.

More evidence is out on Wednesday that the pool of homeowners who can refinance under today’s more stringent lending standards has been exhausted: Mortgage rates have hovered close to their lowest levels in decades, and yet refinance demand fell last week from the previous week.

I think its a scam. Banks don't want to refi.

Well...let's stimulate the economy by lowering the standards. That worked before....
