Let the Chinese have that geopolitical mess. It's high time for America to transition to a post-oil economy and focus on fixing America rather than messing with the world. I wouldn't mind seeing a little more political isolationalism, seeing America step back from being the only global superpower, seeing an end to daily funerals at Arlington for KIA in isolated, god-forsaken places where we shouldn't be. When it wants to, the military seems to be pretty good at innovation and bringing bringing cutting edge technology out of the lab... think atomic weapons, stealth, supersonic aircraft, GPS, the internet... give DARPA a mandate to find alternative sources of energy and see what happens. Aside from being staggering in its scale, these ventures give us cause for worry. China is competing with the West over finite resources,
