Funny coincidence, a 70 Maverick was my first car.

A power-packed 170 cubic inches distributed among 6 mighty cylinders, equipped with a three-on-the-tree, that car was a red streak that would do 0-60 in an afternoon.

The 170 was so small that they never sold it in California (they got the 200), because once you put any smog equipment on the motor it was too underpowered for the car.

Although a serious rust bucket from six New England winters by the time I got it, it was a great first car since it was so easy to work on.

It got me across the country to California, and through college. By the time I was ready to sell it, it was in such rough shape from the rust that I took it to a junkyard, and some Mexican outside gave me $250 for it. I was happy to see that POS drive away.
