Yes. What could have been a depression proved to be only a serious recession.

Not all banks were in trouble, it was mostly just a few large banks that did too much business with Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac. What was to be a short but deep recession has now turned out to be a long term recession and may yet become a depression. Look to Greece for our future.


It was major banks all over this country......C, BAC, JPM, ZION, STI......as well as large regional banks like SNV, RF and HBAN...two of which are in your neck of the woods. The largest S&L, WAMU, went under. And those banks infected major banks in other countries........RBS is just one of many examples.
