If BP is the bad guy, then the US is the enabler. To see it any other way only perpetuates the denial that has continued in this country for the past 30 years. American oil addiction is hurting us.......one way or another.

Agreed. But that doesn't mean BP shouldn't be shit canned for what they did to our Gulf of Mexico. Maybe the biggest crime against nature in the history of mankind.

I'm trying to think of a private company doing something even close to as damaging. I can't.

There was that well in the Gulf in Mexico's waters that was, at least as of a week ago or so, larger. Can't remember their name though.
