I am assuming this sub-1000 is as strong in the rest of the world as in US. What do you think ?

You may be right about consumer PCs, but businesses are still buying more expensive models. If you just look Compaq offering, their Deskpro line is more expensive than Presario line.

But over the next year, I think the ASPs of business computers will decline and move closer to $1,000. Business may still buy P-II based computers for profesionals and managers, but data entry people, secretaries, receptionists and other lower level employees will end up with $1,000 computers.
