Wharfie, of course you can believe The Pentagon. They were completely open and honest that they had closed the Office of Disinformation after it was admitted that the USA government had established it. <That's exactly why I don't believe the Pentagon most of the time. >

It was officially called the Office of Strategic Influence or OSI.

<OSI was authorized to use "military deception" against the public by "presenting false information, images, or statements."[2] The OSI would have been a center for the creation of propaganda materials, for the stated purpose of misleading enemy forces or foreign civilian populations. After information on the office spread through US and foreign media in mid February 2002, intense discussions on purpose and scope of the office were reported. The discussions culminated in a public statement by Rumsfeld in late February that the office has been closed down. >

You can also trust the politicians. The USA has the best politicians money can buy. Look at Al Gore for example. He is rolling in money. I don't know whether he made any commitments or promises when he married Tipper Gore, but if he did, it was time to for them to be no longer relevant.

Look at New Zealand for comparison. Our tiny budgets get the likes of Shane Jones and the rest of the "We're for the working class" Chardonnay socialists [who have upgraded to Bollinger - none of the plonk for the mortals for them]. Pigs in the trough: stuff.co.nz

You can certainly trust the likes of Mann Made Warming. Those 'scientists', giggle, get loads of money for finding Global Warming so of course with that much money, they are able to find it all over the place. I'm sure that if I got so much money I could find a lot of something too. You want green elephants at the bottom of the garden? I could find those. You want mice with odd-coloured genetically produced fur, I could get that. You want cold fusion - no trouble. Human cloning - easy, do it like this: en.wikipedia.org

But there are scientific frauds. Enough to justify a whole Wikipedia article: en.wikipedia.org

When the IPCC aka Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says the glaciers will all be gone by 2020 and Nobel Prize winning scientists like Al Gore say tsunamis will wash over New York, you can be sure that they are right about Global Warming. When the politicians decide we have to pay a lot more tax to fund the Emissions Trading Scheme, you can be sure that we can trust that they know what they are doing.

Thank God for Al Gore, Shane Jones and the hordes of them saving us from ourselves. It's very fortunate too that they have plenty of supporters like you to keep them in the manner to which they have become accustomed though some of us whine like a fleet of Koreans* about the cost.

Now that the OSI has gone, of course everything the Pentagon [and others in the government] says can be taken as total truth. So if they say they no longer give disinformation, and say they stopped lying last Tuesday, you can be sure that on Wednesday if they say it's gone, it has gone.

* Korean cellphone makers whine like a fleet of 747s about Qualcomm royalties, though they haven't been making so much noise lately. They seem to think that people should work and produce intellectual property for no charge. A bit like Made in China recognizes no intellectual property and Rolex watches, Gucci handbags and all sorts are available at low cost.
