At foxwoods i am comped for room and board and last year one weekend i watched football all weekend in the high rollers lounge and did not gamble(ie no sports betting)there. So the asswipe tells me on sunday night to the minute how much time i had spent in the lounge. I told him i payed his salary is this anyway to treat a customer. That is when i started going to the Sun 5 miles down the road.
-----------------------------

To give you an example, I was staying at an off strip casino in '03, prior to buying a place in LV. I was comped for the room by the casino host. Stayed for about 5 days, had a crappy session betting 100 min/hand and had lost about 3 grand. Ask host for comp for food/beverage in addition to room (and rooms in this place were NOT luxurious or expensive, about 100/night at the time tops). He wouldn't budge for the maybe 500 bucks in FB comps. Haven't set foot in the place since.....but I've beaten one of their sister casinos out of about 25K in blackjack winnings since then, and I enjoy the hell out of it.

There is a reasonable chance that Vegas will benefit from the gulf coast problems. A lot of retirees already there, easy to get to, good infrastructure, activities, easy drive to a lot of scenic real estate. No oil on the beach or sharks nibbling at your toes. We'll see.
