" Quickly - go out to a newsstand and look for a special edition of Scientific American titled SOLID STATE CENTURY. There are many great articles inside, including one written by Craig Barrett of Intel on wafer processing. I recommend you keep this as a classic reference. It includes historical articles on the invention of the transistor and integrated circuit.
