As a very small boy I vividly recall the day when my father smugly remarked that Japanese products were cheap junk. Sure enough, my beloved plastic squirt gun was made in Japan! But 10-15 years later I was utterly blown away by the rapidly improving quality

I dunno I'm 54 but I can relate.. Made in Japan or Made in Hong Kong.. = crap in those days.. The first Hondas and Toyotas were rust buckets.. novelties.. but that sure changed.. 15 years may be a bit short but yeah we know what happened... :O)

You mentioned earlier No, to me that was way beyond kissing babies.. almost obsequious like Uriah Heep in David Copperfield.. sycophantic.. it was managing someone with a huge inferiority complex from psyche 101... How can any real issues be discussed.. I think benwood has it mostly right.. the people have abrogated their power.. and the corporations with the aid of the judicial arm are rendering both the executive and legislative ineffectual...

It's on tv :O)

Don't worry though.. Alaska is gonna join Canada ... where it has always belonged anyways ;o) It's all laid out in the 'Parable of the Talents'

Your father was wrong. Remember the Zero fighter... Japan did not emerge out of nothing.
