Clinton should have paid off the debt rather than increase spending like money was free. He was a lousy President in virtually every respect.

If he were not such a spendthrift America would owe at least a trillion or two less than she does now just on the debt payments Clinton should have made. The downstream effect of his outrageous spending increases have probably added a couple trillion more to the debt.
