I did cartoons for my high school paper. I also had numerous notebooks with strips in them. I was young and plagiarized a lot, just for the satisfaction of doing something that looked a lot like a professional's work. I submitted numerous single panel cartoons to the national magazines and had them all rejected. Eventually, I was able to work in commercial art for a number of years. Lots of fun, but little money.
