KLP: These days, I am learning much about life from Mr. B.

Several weeks ago, he had to have his second round of surgery to remove cancerous growth, this time from his mammary glands.

Again, the Vet assures me that he was able to remove all of the affected areas and the post surgery biopsies came back negative.

The vet told me to be careful about letting Mr. B run and jump. And I tried.

However, he had surgery on a Friday noon about three weeks ago. I picked him up that evening at 7:00 pm. He acted as if nothing was wrong. He wondered why Anne and I were being so solicitous. As far as he was concerned nothing had changed, nothing was wrong with him.

We got home. Mr B walked into the living room. With Anne in tow, he ran immediately to the couch, made a quick leap, and was once again in his old familiar nesting place. Anne cried out in dismay. Mr. B just looked at her as if to say: Now what is wrong with you.

Soon he was fast asleep. Now, three weeks later, he is completely back to normal. He never showed the slightest hint of pain and refused to alter his patterns, including his favorite neighborhood walks.

So, after two surgeries to remove cancer, my wonder dog is facing his 15th year as if life is good---in fact very good.
