Off the hook? They admitted their mistake and said they would pay. Did Wall Street do that? Where's the giant recovery fund funded by Wall Street for screwing up the world economy? Why isn't Washington demanding it? By that metric, Washington should bail out BP?

They need to earn enough to pay the fines and damages. I'd hate to see them go bankrupt and leave the government pay for the cleanup and economic damages (as the idiot US Chamber of Commerce suggested).
