alanrs,

This article brings to light why the System is Broken.

The politicians in forming their own powerbase and who collect their own pensions have given away the future of their districts,states etc.

Now that the butcher has come to deliver the bill, the price to be paid will bankrupt many of these schemes. By wanting a bailout from the US government at large it makes me wonder;

Why should I as a citizen have to pay for your largesse in giving away my future and the future of my children.

The pension system shouldn't be federalized and the responsibility for keeping those BS promises should remain with the organization that made the commitment. Then when TSHTF they alone will have to solve the mess they created.
