I guess the government pensions aren't subjected to the same top-heavy regulations imposed on 401ks. Administrators seem to get an excessively generous pension without taking on any risk.

Means test SS. A govie (or other) pension would have you lose your SS. Being wealthy or having major assets would have you lose your SS. It's got to happen.
