"But if he lied about the magnitude!?!?!"

Is there really any question that BP and the feds have been lying from the beginning? If Matt Simmons is so wrong(?), why is BP now going to just try and burn 2.2m gals/day?

NOAA knew on May 1!!!!!!!!!

"A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration video, shot as officials coordinated response to the Deepwater Horizon disaster, shows that federal officials almost immediately worried that the oil well could leak up to 110,000 barrels per day, or 4.6 million gallons."

I got a kick out of that number on the white board when I first saw it last April. Those folks that came up with that number at NOAA practically live in my backyard here in the Seattle area. That number was an "estimated worst case" plot of what could be the highest number. Of course virtually all of us thought that could not be possible.

But with time and the "sandblasting" the BOP has been undergoing the last two months the "choked" area has increased. More free area, higher flows, more material ejected from the reservoir.. Sand.. baby sand.. It will only continue get worse over time. I'm just hoping that reservoir pressures drop and slow down the flow.

I'm afraid after all this is over (the leak) the courts and government will kick BP out of the Gulf. It's only a matter of time with their pathetic record of safety violations capped by this latest mess. I feel sorry for the rest of the industry because they are all going pay higher prices in the near future for more safety equipment and spill response gear.
