Oil company CEOs I've known don't carry a lot of anger and pent-up emotion.

Business doesn't work well when you're preoccupied with petty resentments and lists of "enemies".

I doubt any of the CEOs testifying today at Congress were burdened with any feelings they needed to hide.

I always found it pretty easy to get along with just about everyone when I obtained approvals for Chevron's projects from members of the public, their elected representatives, and government staff.

You'd probably be the first to agree that a position dealing with the public would not be your favorite job. But fortunately for the oil and gas industry, most of their executives are quite comfortable experienced in dealing with a wide range of people.

Markey in his response to Joe Barton's apology to BP for O's shakedown.

I agree with you Markey's seat is as safe as Barton's in his district. Barton's constituents might have been happier with his comments but I feel this was not the time and place to do so. Republican leadership promptly saw that immediately had Barton apologize which he did only after a threat to his ranking membership on the panel.

"American citizens are being harmed," Markey added. "We cannot wait, as unfortunately so many victims of the Exxon Valdez had to wait years to see those families compensated. We can't lose sight of fact that the 1984 Bhopal disaster and lawsuits related to it, were only settled last week. We have to make sure American citizens are protected."

"The families of the Gulf will be crushed financially unless this compensation fund is put in place," said Markey, arguing that the history of Gulf families will be "permanently altered" without action.
