A few years ago, Macallan sold a 15 year old I can still remember. Spoiled me for anything else. All gone now. I think I bought it for about $50 a bottle; this guy is selling his last for around $160. Decent return, and a lot more pleasant than the markets.

A group I belong to had a rep from the Scottish whisky industry visit a few years ago. He brought a number of single malts with him, some Highlands, some Islay, some Speyside...what a wonderful evening it was.

>>> If the end comes, I would prefer to have a nice single malt to ease me out.<<<

I agree.

This single malt by the barrel offer does seem to be a good deal: 1250 pounds (and 10 years of waiting) for a 200L barrel that yields 350 bottles (700ml) after aging losses and dilution to 80 proof. That doesn't include duty, VAT, and bottling fees. If it comes to the US I don't think VAT is due, but our own Feds take their cut. Still, the base charge is only a little over five bucks a bottle. How much could a little duty and shipping and etc be?

This would be a unique opportunity to dash off a batch of BDBBR single malt scotch whisky. I'm good for 35 bottles. Anyone else?
