>>>the BOP seems to have a definite list to port<<<

Good God man. Haven't you listened to the latest Simmons interview?

I finally figured it out.

When the well blew, it launched the entire drill string, BOP, and riser - to include crappy cement job - up to the surface, and into the stratosphere. When it came down, it landed eight miles from its original placement, and pierced all the way down to the reservoir, and landed....can you believe this...in the vertical. Of course it was leaking because the riser was all bent like a pretzel. It is only just now starting to list to port as you so correctly pointed out.

Some here were talking chrono-synclastic-infundibuli - reading too much Vonnegut no doubt. Not the case. Just picture one giant hypodermic needle - out and then back.

I had previously mentioned Ice Nine as a solution. Simmons needs to think out of the box a little more.
