I am an employee at Actra (soon to be a NSCP employee), so I can tell you about what this acquisition means. Here are some points about it:
1. It dramatically increases NSCP's market, both for existing
products, Actra products, and services. A Yahoo
article says it doubles their market. I believe that it will
be even bigger, particularly in the long-term.
2. It cuts down on the reliance of NSCP as a "browser" or even a
tools-based company.
3. They enter a market in which MSFT has *no* presence and of
which they have shown no real understanding.
4. They enter a market which is already seeing explosive growth.
It will be a huge market, in the billions.
