The clock is ticking on Pedro. The Mets have already said NO to Pedro and chose cast off R.A. Dickey over him. I know the Phillies are desperate for another starter. Blanton has been a big disappointment since signing that big fat contract during the offseason. It's good to see the Phillies falter, especially after Halliday chose to sign with them with the intention of pitching in the playoffs and World Series. It would be great and send a message to these spoiled brats if Toronto can miraculously make the postseason ahead of Philly. I got to respect Chipper Jones (even more than I do already) for even considering retirement and giving up all that extra money he signed on for (in 2011) because he takes pride in his work.
