Even if this thing is stopped today, I would consider it about a 6 on a scale of 1-10 where a 10 is the ultimate disaster that kills off the entire planet..

And also following up on my earlier reply to you and just thinking out loud it seems like many, if not most major tragic human and environmental episodes in the last 150-200 years or since the beginning of the industrial and technological age have been human caused.. Oh sure, I know about the earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions, etc. that happen..

The human caused events include wars and industrial accidents..
For example, nuking Japan, using Agent Orange in SE Asia and DU in the ME on the war side BESIDES the absolutely devastating effects inherent in war itself. On the industrial side, the GOM spill, Chernobyl, Bhopal, etc. come to mind.. And don't forget AGW.. Maybe that will turn out to be a 10 but on a very slow creep.

Maybe we should slow down a bit on tech, industrial expansion and be so quick to go to war before TSRHTF (really).

JMT..
