I agree with you. It took a while for me to get a complete picture of
CISCO adn SYSCO. But CISCO also will have some competition soon from LU, the other networking giant. They have redressed their 5ESS to provide data handling and gatway facility. their approach is to
saturate the telcos with their switch for data communicartion needs.
I don't have the complete details, but this announcement came a few weeks back. In distannt future there will be competition between
MSFT and CSCO on the software front while INTc and CSCO will fight
for the consumer end. But not sure what will happend to all these
2nd, 3rd ranking companies. May be more mergers and buyouts.
LU is looking for a strong player.

I owe this baby since USRX buyout ($36) timeframe.
I will dip in if it goes below 35 again.

All the best.

>>I think it makes more sense if csco buys coms now that csco wants to get into the consumer market<<

Would this deal have any chance of being approved? Would the Co. become the intel of networking?

no way csco should buy coms! csco is enabling intel and msft to beat coms in small business. csco likes the higher margin of big business, government and university.

with Cisco's help.. intel & msft can beat coms on margin basis and low bill of materials and global distribution every day of the weak.

Since intel (uses cisco rsvp code and gigabit license) and msft has csco "ios" class of service and quality of service active directory developed with cisco ios code. This frees up cisco to go partner with alcatel, lu, nortel, nec, hp, gte, etc. and develop voice over ip/frame/pbx and get a piece of a different 100B dollar market ...voice the new frontier.

I'm out of coms now....what does the thread think?
