I've decided it's part of the treadmill. People (the ones who still have a job) are working longer hours, no time to cook. Go to restaurants as a result, have even less disposable money, work even longer hours. Wash, rinse, repeat......especially for restaurants like dinner that are supposedly "reasonably priced". I go to my own neighborhood southern italian joint instead, support the locals! Price is the same but the food is better.

I went out to eat last night too and could not believe how many cars were in the parking lot.

but... my wife and I split a meal at Baja Fresh and for $10.00 bucks we spent it for everything - including extra chips and drinks - I felt it was a deal.

Here in Kona it's gone like this:

First the higher end restaurants cut meal prices, some as much as half or even more. Then the fast food folks recently got in a food war when a new plate lunch place came in called Blazin' Steaks(two sccops rice, salad & choice of steak or chicken(meal fills a 10" x10" styrofoam take out box). So l & L went nuts and is offering same but triple portion(katsu chicken, teriyaki steak and Korean BBQ chicken) including large drink for $6. The meal i had probably weighed in at 1.5-2 lbs of meat. The lid was bulging trying to hold the food in.

Now the restaurants are weighing in with extended happy ours everywhere with pupus half price and portions getting bigger! Outback starts HH at 4:30. Two orders of coconut shrimp, large fajitas, cajun ahi, two 24 oz beers, couple other drinks and big tip was $34. The bartender was laughing about how the restaurant patrons come in the bar and get their pupus then just carry 'em to the tables(strictly forbidden heh heh). The restaurant can't scold them cause they will just lose more customers. The bar was packed, the restaurant had maybe a dozen heads.

BTW, the Lakers won. Artest made a $33,000,000 three pointer. -g-

That wasn't an NBA game, it was ghetto ball. I'm just surprised one of the players didn't go to the locker room and grab his piece.
