>>> I have been around the DOD, Military, etc., for 25 years and have never heard of Ampex, nor have the thousands I know who work for JPL, NASA, Military.<<<

Thousands? I can't even name a thousand people. Did you really ask thousands of people if they've heard of Ampex? Bear in mind, Ampex is in a very specialized area in DOD sales (data acquisition in extreme environments).

>>>The street and analysts are not as stupid as mentioned.<<<

Who said they were stupid?

>>>Many great URL's to read, many great posts with engineering intelligence, just to feel better.<<<

Nobody is posting this information to make one feel better about their investment. Do what you want with the posts, feel what you feel. What's wrong with making intelligent posts, anyway? What's wrong with speculation? This board is quite free from hype, Mike.

Mike,
Clearly you are not. Perhaps you were misunderstood in your questioning. For when it come's to airborne units they might have thought you asked who else besides Ampex is used. You probably would not recieve an answer as Ampex just about has a monoply in this area. To bad it is such a small sector. I work with the Air Force at Dobbins. This is the location of Lockheed's plant here and I recieve some of their news letters. Reciently they had an article of flight testing of the new Raptor stealth fighter which they are flight testing. A photograpth of the test instruments had a Black Box with the word Ampex clearly marked on it. The article mentioned some of the information that was recorded and how it was easy to download the data into their computers for evaluation. I thought that this was intresting since Lockheed merged with Martin Marietta who makes a series of instrument recorders. Don't know if they have airborne models but I am sure they could be modified for this type of use.
