>Z, we as a society aren't really asking ourselves, "How can we compete better in a global economy?"

Our plutocratic overlords are creating that economy. They have to be stopped, or we're all screwed.

>And yes, that may also mean the big corporation execs make out like bandits.

And then they control more and more.

We have to change the rules.

>Or it may mean being more innovative, more educated, more productive than our global competitors. Heck, we invented most of the things that our global competitors are now producing better. There's absolutely no reason why can't we continue to be on the leading edge of the global economy.

Yes. We do do that. But it only benefits the "haves" and creates more "have nots." Eventually that's just not sustainable at all. We need rules that benefit companies that keep jobs here. Instead we get shit like NAFTA and stupid-ass "free trade" organizations like the WTO.

>But that means we need to focus on what's important, not what is feel-good nonsense. Having a degree, a title, union membership means nothing when the competition just does better with less.

The "competition" is enslaved. This is all being done by letting plutocrats game the system. It doesn't have to be that way. I've got a couple of good books for you to read on the topic if you're interested.
