I spent a lot of time in the area and not only are there large areas of open land that are flat out not open to the public because of the danger, the city of Douglas itself is hostile area to anybody that is associated with any form of law enforcement.

While working in the Douglas area I was attacked by rock throwing fence hoppers. And while working on College Peak we ran across some of the violence that happens out in the wilderness. Note the photos of the vultures. They had a good meal courtesy of the Mexican drug runners in the Chiricahua mountains.

I appreciate your comments from personal experience but they do not really support what Elmer said. He stated that the cartels control portions of America's national parks. I have yet to see any proof that that is true.
