The Republicans were very very quiet, in fact eerily quiet on the BP issue. And when they opened their mouths after Obama meeting with the BP chairman, they blundered big time by apologizing to BP. It was funny to watch. At first I couldn't understand what they were doing. Then it became clear they were between a rock and a hard place. They are getting a lot of compaign money from oil but a lot of the states negatively impacted by the red states were red states. Then Barton the lid off the whole thing and now they are scrambling. Its hard to take serious people who behave in that fashion.
